J.D. Vance: Ohio's New Republican Senator
Early Life and Career
James David Vance (born August 2, 1984) is an American politician serving as the junior United States senator from Ohio since 2023. He was previously known as James Donald Bowman and gained recognition as the author of the memoir Hillbilly Elegy.
Political Career
Vance was a vocal critic of Donald Trump in the lead-up to the 2016 presidential election. However, he has since become a strong supporter of Trump and adopted some of the former president's positions.
Personal Life
Vance is married to Usha Vance, a litigator for a law firm based in San Francisco and Washington, D.C. They met as students at Yale Law School.
